Balcón del Puerto is the result of a comprehensive renovation of a house built at the beginning of the XIX century, over the ancient Mahón city walls and over the crag that surrounded the cliff of the fortified city.
The renovation concluded in 2006 and was the result of extremely carefully planned and complicated works, given its difficult accessibility and the fact that part of the house was built using some natural caves. The house stands on a superb location, in the centre of Mahon’s historical centre and has spectacular views.
The property has 103.5 square meters and comprises an entrance hall, a spacious sitting-room (built in the area of the old cave),a fully-equipped kitchen, a dinning room and a full bathroom on the ground floor. On the first floor, there is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the port. On the second floor, there is a bedroom/sitting-room with an en-suite bathroom and a spectacular terrace with teak wooden floors and views to the port and the city. The house accommodates up to 6 people.
The Balcón del Puerto has been refurbished paying special attention to design (decorated and furnished to a very high standard), quality of materials and details, such as the stuccowork paintings in an elegant blend of colours. The bathrooms’ tiling over the rock background give the house a touch of distinction and exclusiveness. It is a unique and comfortable house with views to the largest natural port in Europe which really makes a difference. Furthermore, the Balcón del Puerto is located in the best area of Mahón, very close to the old market and fish market and very well connected to allow you to discover the island’s beautiful beaches and coves.
The house has a superb air conditioning/heating system that works through a heat pump that provides a pleasant temperature at any time of the year. The pipe system does not affect the aesthetics of the house. The air conditioning/heating system is divided into three independent areas, thus temperature in the bedrooms and in the other areas of the house can be adjusted independently.
If you enjoy eating at home, you can use the fully-equipped kitchen, with a ceramic hob and an electric oven. The house also has washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, extractor hood and all kind of small electric appliances. An electric boiler provides hot water. For your leisure time, the sitting-room is equipped with a flat screen Sony TV, DVD and Home Cinema.
Due to its location in the central area of Mare Nostrum, Menorca (which is the most eastern island of the Balearic Islands) enjoys the mildness of the Mediterranean climate. Menorca is known as “the calm island” and has been included by UNESCO in the World Biosphere Reserves, for its respect towards the environment.
The Mahon area allows for fast connections by air with the main European cities. As there are no long distances in Menorca, you will be able to travel all over the island, enjoying its beautiful landscapes, its numerous monuments and cultural attractions.
